What’s the best way to get started?
At Port City Pilates, we believe the utmost importance is that you understand the guiding principles of Pilates, and are progressed from fundamental exercises to more advanced exercises when you are ready. This careful methodology provides the most effective and the safest training possible. Because of this commitment we have structured two different ways to begin your journey. We offer private and semi-private Pilates sessions at Port City Pilates. With private lessons, each session will be tailored exactly to your goals, needs and body. Many clients enjoy semi-private sessions because of the decreased cost and the motivating environment of working with your friends. All sessions are by appointment only.
Private training is a great way to start your Pilates journey with us. When starting out with private sessions, you can expect your instructor to introduce basic level fundamental exercises to build your mental focus and understanding of the guiding principles that make Pilates such a unique, beneficial form of exercise During private training, your sessions are focused on your specific needs- which is especially helpful for anyone with injuries or specific goals, or those who want to progress more quickly and develop better precision, in a safe, highly instructional environment. This is truly the highest quality instruction you can receive!
Many clients enjoy semi-private sessions because of the decreased cost, and motivating environment when you have a workout buddy. Although instruction is still precise and correct, duet classes tend to be a bit more laid back. Ideally, you and a friend begin classes together, however we can usually find a partner for you once you have had several private sessions.
